| 摘 要： | 《中国乡村生活》一书反映出中西文化的差异及优势文化对弱势文化的蔑视。其作者 (美 )明恩溥对晚清中国城乡生活的困惑与误解 ,一方面体现了他对中国儒学的包容性、中国哲学的“天人合一”思想、中国文字的意韵特征及中国民俗的求吉尚乐精神的不了解 ,另一方面也表现出一个来自发达的工业文明社会的基督徒对一种正趋衰落的乡村封建文化的蔑视心理 |

| Abstract: | Village Life in China shows the cultural difference between China and the West and the West's sense of cultural advantage over the undeveloped China. Its author, Arthur Smith's perplexity and misunderstanding on the late Qing Dynasty Chinese society reflects, on one hand, his unfamiliarity with the tolerance of confucianism, the heaven-and-man-in-one idea of Chinese philosophy, the meaning and musical feature of Chinese characters, and the pursuit for auspiciousness of Chinese folklore, and on the other hand, the subconscious contempt of a Christian from an advanced industrial society for a declining rural feudal culture. |
