| Abstract: | The paper presents the outline of the classical Gricean theory of conversational implicature, and analyses its contributions to linguistics and the major undefined problems. It further studies the newly achieved findings by S. C. Levinson in supplementing and reconstructing the classical Gricean pragmatic theory. |
