理性张扬与神道教化 --《醒世姻缘传》的神道设教

The elevation of reasoning and educating through religion: use of religion as a means of education in "Xingshi Yinyuan Zhun"

At the time of the merging of Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism in the late Ming period, it was popular to use religion in fiction as a means of educating people, thus giving a boost to Buddhism and Daoism, "Xingshi Yinyuan Zhuan" starts from the rationalistic stand of Confucianism in using gods but not worshipping them, showing a rigid hold onto the Confucian tradition. With a rational and profound criticism of the secularization and utilitarian orientation of Buddhism and Daoism, the book exposes their falsity and sinfulness under a disguise of sacredness, thus dissolving to an extent the spiritual delusion caused by pseudoreligion.
