民国时期私立高等学校述论

民国时期私立高等学校大致经历了北洋政府统治时期的初步发展、南京国民政府统治前期的规范化发展以及后期的持续发展等三个时期。主要呈现出政府的鼓励性政策与创办者的广泛性、董事会管理机制的近代民主性、办学规模的递增性、分布地区的不平衡性、办学经费与承受能力的脆弱性等基本特点。民国时期私立高等学校的发展,为争取民族复兴和国家富强培养了大批杰出人才,对促进中国近代教育的发展起到了积极的历史作用。

A Review of the Private Colleges During the Period of the Republic of China

The private universities and colleges during the period of the Republic of China experienced roughly three phases of development: the preliminary development of the private universities and colleges during the North Ocean Government, their standardized development in the early period of the Nanjing Nationalist Government, and their continuous development during the later Nanjing Nationalist Government. The private universities and colleges during these periods are characteristic of the encouragement policies of the government, the variety of people involved in their establishment, the modern democratic management mechanism of the board of directors, and the increasing scale of these colleges. Meanwhile they also show unbalanced regional development, insufficient running fund and weak enduring capability. The private universities and colleges during the period of Republic of China fostered a large number of outstanding talents for the revival of Chinese nation and played an active role in promoting the development of modern Chinese education.
