中英关系正常化过程中的台湾因素

新中国成立后,英国基于自身利益的考虑,采取了现实主义的外交传统政策,主动承认了中华人民共和国。但在此后相当长的一段时间里,英国在围绕台湾等涉及中国主权的关键问题上,言行不符,持骑墙态度,直接妨碍了中英关系的健康发展。20世纪70年代,中美关系好转,中英两国本着平等协商的精神,妥善解决了台湾问题,终于实现了两国关系完全正常化。

Taiwan Factors in the Process of the Normalization of Sino-British Diplomatic Relations

After the establishment of new China, British government adopted the traditional diplomatic policy of realism and recognized the P.R.C actively for its own benefit. However, for a long period afterwards, the British government's action did not conform to its words and took the attitude of a fence sitter, concerning the critical issues with regard to China's sovereignty revolving around Taiwan. Hence, it directly hindered the development of Sino-British relations. In the 1970s, with the development of Sino-American relations, China and Britain settled the issues of Taiwan appropriately, based on the spirit of consultation on equal terms and the normalization of Sino-British relations were finally achieved.
