| Abstract: | Having long been a pervasive phenomenon in the English language, as in many other languages, sexism has triggered an increasing number of complaints and protests by the feminists in the last thirty to forty years and attracted considerable public attention. In an attempt to provide an overview of the matter, this paper will, through some detailed analysis of sexist phenomena in English, probe into their origins and the impact of the women's liberation movement on the English language. |
