钱钟书《围城》中作者女性偏见原因探析

An Investigation of Causes of Author's Female Prejudice in Fortress Besieged

Fortress Besieged is a widely read novel. Qian Zhongshu, author of the book, was acclaimed as "the greatest scholar of 20th century," and "cultural Kunlun Mountain." However, in this work, the author bore enormous prejudice against female characters. The causes for this phenomenon are as follows. The first cause is the originality, which suggests that the author’s unique intention in writing decided the formulation of characters and the plot arrangement. The second one is the nationality, which means that the traditional Chinese culture and literature exerted invaluable influence on Qian Zhongshu, who argued that "the Chinese learning be taken as the essence." The third one is timeliness, which refers to the collective unconscious of the writers in the context of the patriarchy society that the author could not escape from.
