Xu Jianyin's translation works and introduction of western modern technology

Xu Jianyin was an outstanding weaponry expert and translator of modern times. Based on the preexisting research achievement, the author makes further study of Xu Jianyin's translation works, trying to exploit, sort out and summarize the technologies that had been introduced in Xu's works, including chemical analysis, electrical technologies, metallurgy, machinery technologies, mechanical drafting, western technologies of producing powder and others. In terms of some historical discoveries and inventions in modern technology, and the development of modern industrial technology in China, the author re evaluates the functions and influences of the technologies introduced by Xu in China's modernization, and comments on Xu's scientific attitude and its encouragement for future generations.
