Memetics and the Intertextuality of Poetry

Meme is the basic unit of culture.The replicating,imitating and spreading of memes eventually make culture inherited and developed.Intertextuality is the precondition for understanding all texts and it highlights the inter-dependence and impact on the intertext.Every text is constructed as a mosaic of citations and every text is an absorption and transformation of other text.The paper mainly examines the relationship between memes and intertextuality,pointing out the spreading of memes resulting in intertextuality.It analyses the intertextuality phenomena in poetry from a memetic approach in order to make readers realize that memetics mean great importance to the study of the intertextuality of poetry.
