也论族群认同的现代含义——瓦乡人的民族识别与族群认同的变迁兼与罗树杰同志商榷

从理论上说,族群认同与民族识别因族群与民族分别具有文化属性与政治属性而属于两个不同的范畴,但是在现代化背景下的中国,族群认同是建立在民族识别工作以及随之而来的民族优惠政策的基础上,它已由原有的文化表征发展为具有功利性的可以获得实际利益的象征物。长达30年之久的瓦乡人民族识别工作以及族群认同变迁的个案,可望引起人们对现代中国族群关系演变过程的关注。

Modern Significance of Ethnic Identity

The ethnic identity and the race identification belong to two different categories of culture and politics because the ethnicity and races have respective cultural property and politic property in theory,but under the modern background of China,the race identification and the national favourable policy are on the basis of the ethnic identity.It has developed from its original cultural representation into a symbol thing that has utility and actual benefits.Thirty years work of the race identification of Waxiang People and the single case of the change of ethnic identify may cause the people to concern about the evolution of the modern Chinese ethnicity.
