The Tradition of the "Rule of Virtue" and "Rule by Law" and Its Enlightenment on the Socialist Construction with the Chinese Characteristics--Laying Special Emphasis on the Analysis From the Angle of Chinese Political Culture

In the Chinese history and culture, it is said that there was once the struggle between the "Rule of Virtue" coming from the Confucian school and the "Rule by Law" from Legalists through the whole historical process in the past. But, more scholars are of the opinion that moral humanism represents the spirit of the more important and significant meaning in the Chinese history and culture. While observing the Chinese history from the angle of the political culture, we may see that the Confucian school and the Legalists can compensate each other;it is the basic tradition that we should lay the same emphasis on both the "Rule of Virtue" and the "Rule by Law". We can also regard the doctrine as the essential characteristic of the Chinese history and culture. If all the people devoting themselves to the socialist construction with the Chinese characteristics can make a scientific analysis of the doctrine, people will be enlightened.
