An Article and A Faculty: On the Establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at Aurora University

This paper is based on a document discovered in the French Archives of the Society of Jesus in Paris. By introducing and analyzing this document, the author has expounded the historical background of the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at Aurora University. It has proved that the setting up of a faculty of medicine at Aurora University had reflected one of the French government's purposes after the First World War, i. e., to compete with the German power in the Far East and to enlarge the French cultural and educational influences. This purpose was achieved through the support to the overseas Jesuit educational institutions.
