中国古典大学的理念及其现代意义

在西方大学理念传入中国之前,中国就已经出现过以太学、书院为代表的探索高深学问的古典大学。中国古典大学的理念基础是儒家著作《大学》,后来经过董仲舒、朱熹在太学和书院的发展,中国古典大学以研究与教学相结合、自由讲学、鼓励学生自己钻研为核心的办学理念,这些理念迄今仍有借鉴价值。

The Idea of the Chinese Traditional University and Its Historical Significance

There existed traditional universities in China devoting to higher learning such as TAIXUE(the Imperial College) and SHUYUAN(College) before Western university ideas were introduced.The idea of the Chinese traditional university was chiefly based on The Great Learning,one of the Confucian classical books,and gradually took shape with the contributions of Dong Zhongshu and Zhu Xi with their excellent practices in TAIXUE and SHUYUAN.The great ideas such as combination of research and instruction,free discourse and independent learning are still of historical significance nowadays.
