翻译的过程主要为理解和表达的过程。要正确理解原文的含义或作者的意图, 就得依赖于译者的认知在原文语境中进行判断和推理;恰当表达原文作者的意图, 使译文达到与原文神似与形似的表达效果, 取决于译者对译入语读者的语言和世界知识结构认知程度,因此译者认知能力的培养在翻译实践中至关重要。

The Functions of Cognition in Translation

The procedure of translation is largely one of understanding and expressing in a suitable way. The translator's cognition has much to do with the exact understanding of the original language, and with the correct judgment of the authors intention. Moreover, the target language readers cultural background and knowledge structure should be taken into consideration. Only in this way, can the target language translation text go hand in hand with the cognition of
the author of the original language. Therefore, the translator's cognition level is of much significance in the translation practice.
