《天问》的研究与英文翻译

作为中国古代的重要文献,《天问》具有多科性和多意性,其阐释价值和研究价值很高。它不但是文学文献,而且也是哲学、社会学、历史学、民俗学、神话学等方面的文献。但在翻译中,译者一般只能侧重一个方面进行处理,造成其他方面信息的遗失。在总结《天问》现有研究与英译问题的基础上,我们从阐释、文本和文化等三方面探讨英译中的有关问题。

RESEARCH IN ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF TIANWEN(INQUIRIES OF HEAVEN)

This paper discusses the difficulty of translating Tianwen(Inquiries of Heaven) in Chuci(Poetry of the South). As anessential piece of literature in ancient China,Tianwen(Inquiries of Heaven) is multidisciplinary and polysemous with a high value ofhermeneutics and research. It is not only literature of art,but also that of philosophy,sociology,history,folklore,and mythology.However,in translation ,the translator can only focus on one aspect at the expense of the others. Based on the summary of theexisting research and English translation of Tianwen (Inquiries of Heaven),this paper probes into its translation from itsinterpretation,text and culture concerning the work.
