So a reflective view of metaesthetics should embody the latest thoughts, the intention of value and the historical situation of the aesthetic improvement. Signaling the peak of contemporary thoughts, the dialectical and historical materialism could give a general direction to the reflective study of aesthetics. The history of aesthetics development is a reflection of the evolutionary process of the essential categories, which has now turned to the field of axiology after the ontological and epistemological stages. In the light of axiology, the study of aesthetics in China should stick firmly to the ideological standpoint and the stand of affinity to the people and, besides, maintain and improve the socialist economic development consciously through the study of the people's aesthetic need involving the overall course of modernization construction.
