The construction of the system of literary theory with Chinese characteristics is an important proposition, which concerns the prospect of the development of China's literary theory. It is not only possible but necessary. In the constructing process, the system cannot be built up with the traditional Chinese literary theory or Western one as its matrix; but rather, we should blend the traditional and the modern on the basis of the modern literary theory, and set the "Four Party Conference" participated by the traditional, modern, Chinese and Western literary theories as the constructing basis.
