芳名遗踪:宋代女性人名用字探考

在两宋历史中,相较于男子而言,留下名字的女子实在太少。就目前已搜寻到的宋代女子名字中,大致呈现出或带女性称谓,或多叠字,或有显现女子品行、智慧之词,或与佛、道信仰有关等特点。透过这些命名的特点或可窥见,在宋代,女子留名者多具有大致相同的职业或社会阶层;女子是否已婚,也在女子命名或称谓中显现出来。这表明,男尊女卑的现象一直贯穿于中国帝制时代,女性的地位日益下滑,即便在文化昌明和经济发达的两宋社会,仍然如此。

A Study about Female's Name of Song Dynasty

Since the beginning of patriarchal society women has been much lower than men in social status.So women’s names are much less recorded than those of men’s in historical material of the Song dynasty.From those female names we can find it can be seen that some names are with female appellation.Some have same characters repeated.Some characters are related with good quality or to Buddhism and Taoism.By classifying the names,we can see that most of the women whose names have been recorded have had the roughly similar profession or social status.Whether a woman has been married or not can also be seen from her name.
