A Study of the Burgeoning Digital Rhetoric in the West

The media revolution that broke out in the mid-20th century in the West led to the transformation of traditional rhetoric and the birth of digital rhetoric.After half a century’s exploration and development,scholars in this new field have accomplished remarkable achievements in the research of new media rhetoric,and have distinguished this field from others in redefining the object of study,giving the ontological status to metaphor,and placing a special emphasis on critical literacy.It has contributed to promoting adaptation to the turn from linear text to hypertext,meeting the needs of the general public to learn through fun and play and the ingenious integration of technology and art.
