ESP与MTI

摘    要:通过比较ESP与MTI的异同,认为ESP与MTI虽然学科分支不同,分属语言教学和翻译教学,但两者都是教学,都强调实践性、应用性和专业性。ESP是MTI教学的核心课程,ESP课程设置上有宽窄之分(wide and narrow-angled course designs),目前一般院校在MTI的教学中都采用ESP的宽泛型课程,而开设ESP的窄型(专门型)课程更具市场针对性,选择课型应根据所属院校的专业特色和社会需求的分析而定。

Abstract:A comparative research has been made between ESP(English for Specific Purposes) and MTI(Master of Translators and Interpreters) in the paper.ESP teaching and MTI teaching focus on practice,application and specialization,though both belong to different academic branches.A distinction is drawn between ESP courses that are "wide-angled"(designed for a more general group of learners) and those that are "narrow-angled"(designed for a very specific group of learners).Many universities in China offer only ESP wide-angled courses.In practical terms,determining and selecting courses may be based on the analysis of findings from universities'' speciality characteristics and social needs.
