| 摘 要： | 近代中国首次大规模学习西方先进科技的幼童留美计划虽半途夭折,但回国后任职于外交界的留美幼童,作为近代中国新一代外交官,在“弱国无外交”的艰难屈辱中,仍然在维护中国领土完整、铁路主权、华人利益以及力争合理议结教案和索回部分庚子赔款等五个主要方面,有力地捍卫了国家主权和民族利益,加速了近代中国外交现代化的进程。
