| 摘 要： | 马可.波罗成为元代中国与西方欧洲国家文化交流的一个具有时代特征的代表人物,一是因为长期以来东西双方强烈的了解对方的迫切感,为马可.波罗的成名创造了不可或缺的机遇;二是强大、辽阔的元帝国使得中国与西方欧洲国家长期以来要求直接接触的梦想终于成为现实;三是马可.波罗以一个世俗的普通人的亲历,满足了西方欧洲人对东方中国的好奇心,第一次让西方欧洲国家有机会了解到真正的东方中国;四是欧洲人长期视《马可.波罗游记》为怪诞神话并肆意增删其内容,反使得马可.波罗的名气越来越大。

| Abstract: | Why did Marco Polo monopolize high reputation? The reasons are the following:(1) Europeans wanted to know about China,(2) the Yuan rulers provided him much convenience,(3) he for the first time answered the curiosity of the Europeans about China,and(4) the Travels of Marco Polo was the first book for Europeans to know China,and Europeans thought the book was a myth and freely edited it to make him more famous. |
