Industrial Essence Reuse in the Design of Aged Industrial Building Redevelopment

The redevelopment of the aged industrial building is currently a hot spot, and the retaining of its characteristics is the core problem of this hot spot. The old industrial building is characterized by a series of elements which is closely related with the industrial production, named industrial essences, thus we can retain the character of industrial buildings through the reuse of the industrial essence. Through the analysis of industrial essence and its scope, the principle of the industrial essence reuse and the means of the artistic expression in space, form and environment are introduced. We expect to provide a special visual angle to retain the industrial characteristics in the design of aged industrial building redevelopment, i.e. retaining the root of the aged industrial building.
