摘    要:在英语国家课堂里,中国英语学习者总是表现为最为沉默的人群.同时,他们往往对教师不会直呼其名,而是选择"老师"这个笼统的称谓.本文分析了这一跨文化交际现象中表现出的语言行为和其内含的文化价值标准.通过探讨中国学生在英语国家的"称呼"言语和课堂行为,本文旨在提高中国学生对东、西方两种文化差异的敏感度并帮助他们在跨文化交际过程中积极主动地搭建相互理解的交际平台,从而顺利地实现文化移入.

Abstract:Chinese learners studying abroad are found to be the most silent group in class.They usually address their native English teachers with a de-personalized term "Teacher" rather than directly use their first names.These Chinese students seldom speak out voluntarily and they have also found it extremely challenging to openly disagree with their teachers or confront their peers with opposing ideas.This paper analyzes the relationship between linguistic expressions and the underlying cultural norms with respect to Chinese students' perception on teacher's role and appropriate classroom performance.It is aimed that mutual understanding during intercultural communication is promoted between native English-speaking teachers and Chinese learners.Chinese learners will negotiate their intended meaning while interacting with native English-speaking teachers and behave as competent learners in classrooms settings.
