How Social Movements Take Place in China——Reviewing the status and progress of overseas studies of Chinese social movements

The radical social changes in China since 1980s resulted to continuous social movements in the country. Focusing on how social movements take place in China, overseas scholars explored the diverse backgrounds for the occurring in contemporary Chinese society through dynamic mechanism, institutional conditions and mobilization modes. They also analyzed the possible complex influences of the issues on Chinese polities. As researches in this field get deepen, more quantitative and comparative research methods have applied, and theoretical frameworking studies will be on the way.
