From Sentimentalism to Rationalism: Comparison of Eclipse and Midnight with Comments on Mao Dun's Writing

Eclipse and Midnight are the most important novels of Mao Dun's,of which the two show the traces of evolution of Mao Dun's writing.There have been so many different opinions in the theory area over the critiques of the two novels.This thesis tries to review Mao Dun's writing in terms of textuality.This thesis also analyzes the phenomenon of the inconsistency of Mao Dun's ideas and his novels on the conclusion of the development of Mao Dun's literary thought.This thesis points out the criticism on Mao Dun has political utility color in mainland literature and overseas researchers.And this thesis also retorts the ideas such as subject advance and graphic solution politics.At last,this thesis reemphasizes the vital significance of Midnight in Chinese modern literature history.
