民族意识与世界意识的纠缠——从泰戈尔在中国的接受看20世纪文学思潮的一个侧面

现代民族意识与世界意识的矛盾纠缠是中国现代文学不同于传统文学的一个重要精神内涵。印度"诗哲"泰戈尔的文化身份在现代民族意识的觉醒张扬和世界意识的开放两个层面上都对中国现代作家形成了吸引力。20世纪中国对泰戈尔的接受悖论以及选择和误解,集中体现了作为弱势民族文化体现的中国文学在其现代进程中的文化境遇,中国现代文学对泰戈尔的接受,既体现了中印相似的现代性经验和文化认同的需要,同时也是中西文化和文学关系中所累积的文化情感和精神压力的某种释放。

The Entanglement of National Consciousness and World Consciousness

One of the spiritual dimensions to the differences between modern literature and traditional literature of China is the entanglement of national consciousness and world consciousness. The cultural identity of Rabindanath Tagore allured modern Chinese writers in dimensions of the arousal of the former and wideness of the latter. The misunderstanding and paradoxical reception of Tagore by Chinese in the 20th century reflect in focus what Chinese literature, as the cultural expression of a marginalized people, has undergone through its modernization. And this reception reveals not only the similarity of modern experience and the need of cultural identification both of China and India, but also a release of the emotion and tension that has accumulated in literary and cultural relations between China and the West.
