| Abstract: | "Ba-Jiao (Eight-foot) Ci", is a rarely-known name of the stereotyped writing in the Ming Dynasty. This paper assumes that it is originated from literary criticism in the Song Dynasty. Considered to be a technical term for analyzing articles, "Ba Jiao Ci" refers to the paratactic construction and style. It also reveals the relations between the stereotyped writing, Confucianism in the Song Dynasty, and the literary form of the imperial examination at that time. |
