"Oriental Harvard": On St. John's University(Shanghai)

St. John's University was an Anglican university located in Shanghai and ten thousands of students dreamed to entering this famous university. Therefore, it enjoyed a prestige of "Oriental Harvard" and it occupied an outstanding place not only on urban history of Shanghai but also on educational history of modern China. After explaining its flexuous history of 73 years, this treatise concluded and analyzed the features and traditions of St. John's University. Namely, the success of this university can be attributed to four keys: a sagacious president, a group of excellent teachers, a set of rigorous administration systems and a modern metropolis.
