| Abstract: | The gaoshen (or hierarchy) system in Nanzhao was established under the influence from the ancient Tibet and the Tang Dynasty. The system was divided into six ranks and twelve classes. The six ranks were sese, jin, pomi, yin, shushi and tong. All the ranks were honorarytitles and did not relate to actual posts. |
