With his unique understanding of chivalrous culture,Guo Moruo has carried out its modern reformation and creative transformation in his writings,thus,demonstrating the charm of the chivalrous cultural spirit in the exploration and employment of its modern connotations.Both the evolutional course of Guo Moruo＇s chivalrous mentality and his ideal of value s in the construction of his personality and culture at large are reflected either in his thoughts to advocate violent force during the May Fourth Movement,or In his exploitation of the national spirit in chivalrous subject matters during the Anti-Japanese War.However,the creative intention of serving politics resulted in the relative weakness of the artistic charm of his writings.
