Approaches to Cultures in Translation: Foreignizing and Domesticating

Approaches to cultures involved in translation are usually classified into two: foreignizing and domesticating.By applying translation theory and accepting theory,the paper attempts to discuss how to select appropriate approaches according to the purpose of translation,the type of texts,and the translator's attitude to the reader's role.However,in view of the actual fact of cultural differences,the translation's main function as a means of cultural communication,and the background of world's culture mergence today,it seems best to adopt the "foreignizing first,domesticating second" approach.
