| 摘 要： | 自索绪尔提出语言符号音义之间的任意性原则以来,在语言学界引起了极大争议.然而根据如下语言现实:(1)语言符号的初创期并非完全任意;(2)人类语言共性事实;(3)具体语言系统的限制性;(4)语言之间的翻译;(5)儿童语言习得中的"泛化现象";(6)语言系统的非自主性;(7)语体间的任意性限制,我们认为语言符号的基本特性不是任意性为主,而是限制性为主,任意性仅限于限制范围内的任意性,是第二位的.

| Abstract: | Saussure's arbitrariness principle between sound and meaning has aroused a heated discussion among linguists. However, based on the following linguistic facts: (1)incomplete arbitrariness in the initial stage of linguistic sign; (2)universals of human language; (3)restriction of individual language system; (4)translation between languages; (5)overgeneralization of children's language acquisition; (6)non-autonomy of language system; (7)restrictions on various styles of written language, the author argues that the essential property of linguistic sign is its restriction, in which arbitrariness is regarded as the second subsidiary attribute. |
