On the Unity of the Aesthetic Nature and the Social Nature of Literature

The aesthetic nature and social nature are different aspects of literature. Man's requirement for the appreciation of beauty, which is based on his satisfaction of basic requirements, is one of his higher mental requirements. The relationship between the writer and life is his appreciation of its beauty, and so is that between the reader and the literary work. The writer's aesthetic views result from the accumulation of people's collective aesthetic consciousness. The achievement of the unity of the aesthetic nature and the social nature of literature requires a long period of time.
