| Abstract: | We should correctly handle the relations between economic development and environmental protection and adhere to the principle of giving priority to sustainable development and prevention, avoiding the beaten track of "taking efforts to bring pollution under control only when it has become disastrous." In strategic policy making for the great development of the west of China, great importance should be attached to environmental protection. People's environmental consciousness must be raised and ideas of quick results and instantaneous gains given up before effective measures to protect environment could be taken. |
