英语语调模式与口语语篇的信息表达

口语语篇中信息的传递主要是通过语调来实现的。作为一种音系手段,英语语调模式与信息表达密切相关。人们借助语调特有的模式将信息内容组成信息单位,确立信息中心,从而达到传递新信息的目的,并通过语调的不同变化来调节语句的信息意义。语调模式对信息意义的影响可以从语调单位与信息表达结构,语调类型与信息功能,调核(核心重音)与信息中心等三个方面得到体现。

Intonation Patterns for the Communicating of Information in English Spoken Discourse

Information in English spoken discourse is communicated mainly through intonation devices.As a phonological means closely connected with communication of messages,intonation patterns are utilized by participants in communications to organize the information units,identify the information focus and convey the new information.More importantly,a purposeful modification of intonation may help to refine the messages in the discourse.This paper examines the effects of intonation patterns from the relations of intonation units and information structure,the intonation types and information functions,and the positioning of nuclei and the information focus,respectively.
