清嘉道年间汉口商人文化生态考释

清代中期的汉口商人在经商之外的文化生活具有浓厚的士人化特征,他们热心交游,定期聚会,吟风咏物,乐善好施,成为传统基层社会中具有一定代表性的非官方导向力量.但是,相比于同时期的经世派士子,汉口商人的精神生活还较多局限于风花雪月,在内忧外患的时局下,他们缺乏对大众民生的关注与同情,缺乏应对时变的必要思想准备,至清朝后期,以盐商为代表的汉口商人大势已去,逐步走向衰落,"不能饮酒不能诗"的财主逐渐成为商人主流,一个真正"平民性"的商业都市--汉口逐渐成形.

Studies of Cultural Ecology of Hankou Merchants of the Jia and Dao Periods of the Qing Dynasty
