Fechner's Psychophysics and Methodological Review of Measurement in Modern Quantitative Psychology

Reviewing the developmental history of quantitative psychology since G.T.Fechner. The methodological mistake of early quantitative psychology is found that it was studied as an instrumental task instead of scientific task. Despite the early quantitative psychologists made efforts to establish both the psychophysics and quantitative psychology and their achievements had been accepted as the fundamental theory and methodology of quantitative psychology, what they contributed to is just the instrumental task in quantitative research. At last, the theory of conjoint measurement came into being to provide a way to determine if a psychological attribute has quantitative structure, thus transforming the quantitative research on psychology into a scientific task.
