The May Fourth Movement was aimed at enlightening the whole people of the contemporary China.Ironically,instead of the traditional way of enlightenment in Europe,the Chinese intellectuals adopted a radical one that was undertaken in Russia.The essay takes a close examination of the radicalism in the May Fourth Movement by reviewing the history of the contemporary China,the view of literature of the contemporary writers and the narration of the history of the modern literature.
