On the Historical Consciousness of Contemporary Students

The article presents the results of a study of the historical consciousness of contemporary students in comparison with other similar research, and considers, in the context of the young generation, the status of the past, different sources of knowledge about the past, historical interests, the specificity of historical identification, the role of institutions in the views of young people, and ethnocentrism. It is concluded that the historical consciousness of students today has a contradictory nature, which is associated with the loss of the fundamental role of tradition as a basic value of historical consciousness and orientation, as well as a loss of interest in family history.
