目的论视角下海南公示语汉英翻译失误探析

汉英双语公示语规范化建设是近年来各大城市提升整体形象的重要工程之一。以功能主义目的论为基础,指出海南公示语英译存在的主要问题:专有名词英译不统一、不规范,汉英翻译信息失真,忽略汉英文化差异等,分析造成这些问题的原因,提出规范海南公示语汉英翻译的建议。

An Exploration into the Chinese-English Translation Errors of Public Signs in Hainan from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

The standardization of Chinese-English public signs has been one of the important tasks for many big cities to promote their entire images in recent years. With the Skopos theory of functionalism as the basis,the present study summarizes the major errors in the Chinese-English translation of public signs in Hainan,which involve the disunity and irregularity of proper nouns translated into English,the information distortion in the Chinese-English translation,and the neglect of the Chinese and English cultural differences. Analyzing the underlying causes of these problems,it puts forward the suggestions to standardize the Chinese-English translation of public sings in Hainan.
