| Abstract: | This paper, from the point of view of translating and publishing history of modern China, gives a presentation, analysis and comparison of the impact of Wu Kuangjian＇s translations. The characteristics of his translations are also shown in the paper, such as the abridged translation based on the sound understanding of the original version, the emphasis of the original essence and the consideration of reader＇s acceptability via the domination of ＂faithfulness＂ to ＂expressiveness＂ and ＂elegance＂. It is surely beneficial for re-estimating the status of Wu＇s translations in Chinese modern history. |
