在中国近代化的历史进程中，“庚款留美”学者积极介绍西方民主、自由、人权、法制等思想，批判北洋军阀政府和国民党政府的专制统治，不仅推动了中国经济、教育、科技的进步，而且在传播现代民主思潮、推动中国政治民主化进程中也起了积极作用。

The role played by scholars who finished their studies in U. S. expenditure of war loss indemnity of the year 1900 in pushing forward the course of China's political democratization

In the historical course of China's modernization, scholars who finishkd their studies in U. S. at the expenditure of war loss indemnity of the year 1900 plunged bravely into introduction of Western ideologies of democracy, freedom, human rights and legal system, etc., to China and criticized the monopolistic rules in China by Northern warlords and KMT government, so much so that they not only contributed much to China's modernization of economy, education, science and technology, but also played an active role in pushing forward the course of China's political democratization.
