近代福州电报学堂探略

清朝政府在引入电报时，曾创建了一系列电报学堂，其中以福州电报学堂为滥觞。该学堂在近代中国的教育转型中所具有的示范意义不容忽视。从办学动机看，福州电报学堂是清朝疆臣“权自我操”理念之产物，透视出的是近代国人的强烈主权意识。从教学运行看，该学堂属临时性质，无论是教学内容抑或教学手段，皆具有较强的近代性，与中国传统教育大有区别。从教学效果看，该学堂培养出的中国首批电报技术人员，为日后中国电报建设尤其是台湾地区的电报建设发挥了重大作用，从而成为近代中国成功移植西式近代工程技术学校的先驱之一。

Delving Slightly into Fuzhou Telegraph School in Modern China

When the telegraph was introduced into the modern China, a series of telegraph schools were founded by the late Qing government. Among them, Fuzhou telegraph school was the first one and played a demonstrative act during the transformation of modern Chinese education. On its motivation of starting, Fuzhou telegraph school was the result of late Qing government officials＇ thought of sovereignty owned and exercised by China. And in terms of its teaching content and method, Fuzhou telegraph school had the great difference from Chinese tradition-al education. What is more, it had nurtured the first group of qualified personnel for telegraph construction in the late Qing dynasty and became one of the trail blazers of adapting successfully western modern engineer and techni-cian school in modern China.
