双重文化视阈中的他者——白先勇创作中的华裔男性人物形象解读

美国华裔男性不仅失去了性别优势,还同时面临着种族和文化的问题,族裔、文化、性别成为美国华裔男性主体构建中不可回避的因素,三者相互纠结,反照出其文化身份割裂的痛苦。对中西文化的取选,华裔男性经历了从逃避、退缩到徘徊于二者之间的过程。他们或者以一种自闭的方式试图逃离两种文化的选择,或者以一种退缩的状态承担着西方文化对华裔男性的偏见,或者在两种文化的徘徊中经历着心理变异和身份困惑,体现了作家本人对故国文化的无法忘怀,以及对异质文化融入的不情愿心态。

The Other in Chinese and American Cultures:A Study of Chinese American Men in Bai Xianyong's Works

Chinese American men have not only lost their privileged gender position,but also have been confronted with problems of race and culture.As unavoidable factors in the construction of the subject,race,culture and gender are intertwined,reflecting their sufferings of divisive cultural identity.Facing Chinese and American cultures simultaneously,they have undergone the process of avoidance of, withdrawal from and hesitation between the two.They either chose to avoid making a choice between the two through self-seclusion,or stood the prejudice of western culture by means of withdrawal,or were perplexed by the distortion of their psychology and self-identity resulting from their vacillation between two cultures.All of these reveal that the author is sentimentally attached to the Chinese culture and is unwilling to be assimilated by the exotic culture.
