The Economic and Social Costs of Demographic Dividend and Sustainable Development

This paper analyzes the economic and social costs of the demographic dividend in order to remind people that ＂demographic dividend＂ is a double-edged sword. With the awareness that demographic dividend is very helpful, we also have to put insight into its underlying risks so as not to be blindly optimistic. Our real aim is not to enjoy demographic dividend but to free ourselves from its overwhelming influence. Only make good use of the demographic dividend period and make positive changes before the closure of the Demographic Window of Opportunity can we achieve sustainable development.
