"阳光"之于美国革命,"闪电"之于法国革命,她们看上去象一对孪生姊妹,性格却迥然不同。基于对传统价值所持不同的态度,社会以不一样的变革方式向前发展,或是暴力激进的革命,或是渐进温良的改革。传统有何价值?在现时代到底应该发挥怎样的作用?这是值得探讨的学理性问题。文章选择美国与法国这两种具有典型意义的西方社会变革形态进行分析,以期对中国社会政治发展提供有益启示。

Which role should be played in the present era?
