| 摘 要： | 荣任中国第一所国立现代化大学——北京大学首任校长的蔡元培先生，采“教授治校”之大学改革理念，以“思想自由、兼容并包”之大学精神，改革传统北大，使其脱胎换骨为现代北大，进而引领中国其他大学步入现代大学轨道。这无论是对于中国高等教育现代化，抑或对于中国社会的现代化，都可谓功莫大焉。因此，研究蔡元培北大改革理念与中国高等教育现代化进程之间的关系，对于北大乃至其他中国著名大学通过系统改革建设若干所世界一流大学或学科将有着重大的启示和借鉴作用。

| Abstract: | Cai Yuanpei, the first president of Peking University, made the school a modern university by adhering to ＂governing a university by professors＂ and following the principle of ＂thought freedom and coexistence of different schools of thoughts＂, thus leading other Chinese universities to modernization. This is surely a great contribution to the modernization of China＇s higher education and society. So research into the relationship between Cai Yuanpei＇s idea of the reform of Peking University and the process of modernalization of China＇s higher education will shed light on how to construct a number of internationally famous universities or disciplines through systematic reforms. |
