| Abstract: | On the basis of investigating the origin and development of interconnection networking. with emphasis on INTERNET upon which electronic commerce depends for its existence , this paper makes an analysis of electronic commerce with a view to exploring the background for its birth , its superiority , its favorable prospects and its influence upon world economic development. Also , the challenges and chances that confront China's information industry are discussed. |
