China in the World Economy:Prospects and Challenges

Since 1978,China's economy has made great achievements.By 2007,China will have overtaken all the G-7 countries in GDP except the U.S.,Japan,and Germany,becoming the fourth largest economy.However,the development of China will be confronted with varied obstacles in the world economy,such as competitive shock in manufacturing industry,threat of protectionism,triangular trade problems,etc.it is predicted that China's economic growth will sustain expeditious development for the next 20 years owing to such factors as its persistent development drive,the settlement of energy source problems,the use of nuclear energy,and a sustained peaceful environment,which have made China so successful in its growth policies.Over the years,with its growing economic power,China has increased its political influence on other countries,especially in Asia.In the context of globalization,economic interaction between countries increases the stake in world peace.It is necessary for all countries in the world to unite and support China's slogan of "peaceful economic rise".They should build up a global mechanism for keeping peace in order to prevent all kinds of conflicts.
